Eating disorders (ED) effect more than just the patient and can be affected by outside factors. Families play a huge role in the recovery or relapse of their family members. At times families are unable or unsure of how to adjust the family structure to become more recovery focused and supportive of the ED family member. This can have a negative effect on the ED patient and the family. This presentation talks about the impacts of families, interventions and the importance of recovery focused family structure/system in recovery.
